Answer

For applications that involve drivetrain efficiency assessment, an inertial dynamometer can provide invaluable data. Products may be tested in various configurations and a determination can be made as to what works best in a relatively short period of time. Axles, lubricants, tyres, wheels, and transmissions may be evaluated quickly and easily without repeatedly returning to the track.

In addition, quick peak horsepower tests may be conducted to provide reference points following installation of new components like turbo chargers, intake manifolds, exhaust systems, and ignition systems. A keen eye can differentiate between a bad decision and a good decision.
