Vehicle Simulation, or Virtual Inertia™, is a software program developed by Mustang Dynamometer for the purpose of reproducing road-load on a chassis dynamometer. The algorithms in the software reference vehicle weight and rolling losses factors entered by the user to determine how much power must be absorbed at a given speed and rate of acceleration. The operator simply drives while the dynamometer imposes load and collects power, torque, speed, and shift-point data.
Vehicle simulation testing is ideal for applications that involve assessment of a vehicle in a natural setting. Often times, one does not know if an improvement has been made until an elapsed time test has been conducted (i.e. quarter-mile sprint).
Vehicle weight and rolling losses factors for stock vehicles are made available to our customers at the time of purchase via a standard look-up table.
